Oppo officially launched A72 5G after launching its Vanilla A72 in AprilOppo announced the vanilla A72 in April 2020. Now, the company has announced its 5G model the Oppo A72 5G, but it will not support next-generation networks. The A72 5G is powered by the Dimensity 720 SoC while the 4G model has a Snapdragon 665 chipset under the hood. Point to be noted that both smartphones have 6.5″ FullHD+ LCDs. But, the A72 5G comes with a 90Hz panel as opposed to the non-5G variant’s 60Hz screen. While the network connectivity and screen are upgraded. The A72 features a total of 5 cameras, including a 16MP selfie camera on the front and a quad-camera setup at the back comprising 48MP main, 8MP Ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor units.

The A72 5G has an 8MP shooter on the front with the back housing a camera setup. It is a combination of 16MP primary, 8MP Ultra-wide, and 2MP depth modules. The A72 comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, but the A72 5G ships with a 4,000 mAh and both charge via a USB Type-C port. Other main features in the Oppo A72 5G include Android 10-based Color OS 7.2, Dirac 2.0 sound enhancements, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The A72 5G is offered in 3 colors including Neon, Oxygen Violet, and Simple Black. It comes in a single 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration and priced at $270 (CNY 1,899).

The new device is up for pre-orders in China through the company’s official site and its sale will start on 31st July 2020. The OPPO A72 5G also boasts a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio. The 5G version of the OPPO A72 also employs a display cutout that houses a single, front-facing snapper. The major difference between the two editions can be found under the hood. The other connectivity options of the smartphone are Wi-Fi, 4G, Bluetooth, GPS, and many more. The phone also ships with Android 10-based Color OS 7.2, Dirac 2.0 sound enhancements, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
