New Auto Tech with Fisker Alaska Pickup EV

The founder of the automotive startup, Henrik Fisker, announced a spinning formation of EV prototypes on Thursday night. New auto tech shows a strong pickup truck featuring a stretchy bed. There is also a grand sports car with up to 600 miles of range.

There is an off-road version of its Ocean SUV and the strange PEAR vehicle built in collaboration with Foxconn. The display was part of an event for media and investors in Huntington Beach, California.

This was the first time Fisker has presented its entire future vehicles in prototype. All vehicles are from its extensive and determined future product plan. Meanwhile, Fisker is taking apprehensions for all of them.

Henrik said he believes the typical car industry admired this approach over coming up with a new car. But he thinks the company is right now in an entirely different time because of coming out of the COVID headache.

Fisker said his approach is a kind of need to grab the moment and accelerate it. He said COVID was terrible and it stopped the company from performing operations smoothly. The entire turnover of the market is up for seizes, supposedly in the next 3 years.

Fisker Alask, a Luxury Pickup EV Truck:

CEO Fisker has called the luxury truck the Ferrari of pickups, focusing on other powerful all-electric luxury pickups in the line. The latest technology news said it includes;

  • Cybertruck of Tesla
  • The Ford F-150 Lightning
  • The most popular Rivian R1T

The Alaska pickup truck is manufactured on a similar Ocean platform with a slightly extended. Fisker entitled the platform beneath the Alaska FT31. The automobile firm said an automotive manufacturer, Magna Styer, will develop a new EV luxury pickup truck.

Magna Styer will manufacture the luxury truck in Europe at the same plant used for the Ocean. On Thursday, Fisker said Alaska will have up to 340 miles of all-electric range alongside some exclusive features. It includes a cup holder and water bottle and an expendable bed.

The extendable bed is stretchable from 4.5 feet to 7.5 feet with the use of a push button. The luxury pickup also has many confined spaces and storage containers. The stretchable bed also has a more appealing feature to attract campers.

The company is expected to skip the rear wall and the back window of the cab. It enables the cabin to connect the truck bed and extend the entire area to 9 feet & 6 inches. Fisker called this feature the Houdini Truck. This offers a sleeping option to owners or used to carrying bigger items.

Fisker pointed out that the firm is seeking to add all types of fun stuff for the Alaska truck. It will go one-on-one with the Rivian R1T. This pickup truck is famous for its remarkable accessories. It includes;

  1. Bluetooth speakers
  2. Hidden flashlight
  3. Alaska will cost around $37,900 with incentives.
  4. The starting price for Alaska is $45,400 without incentives.
  5. Alaska will arrive in 2024

The company has opened reservations for Alaska on Thursday evening and deliveries will take place in 2025.

New Auto Tech

The PEAR with New Car Tech Solutions

Fisker presented the PEAR (new car tech solutions) for the first time along with Alaska. The firm will manufacture PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) at the Lords Town Motors plant, in Ohio, in collaboration with Foxconn.

However, Lords Town Motors has sued Foxconn and submitted a file for bankruptcy. So, the manufacturing of the PEAR at that location is still unclear. Fisker said the PEAR features around 300 miles of range in its dual motor all-wheel drive at $29,900 without incentives.

Fisker called the vehicle an entirely connected mobility device loaded with onboard supercomputers. It can reportedly manage at least 6.2 teraflops of data. Fisker will develop in-house supercomputers and call them “Fiske blades”.

The price for the PEAR is 50 miles lower than other high-end EVs including the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and 5. Both vehicles are priced in the range of $40,000 but no auto manufacturer has yet developed an EV under $30,000.

Fisker has jumped into the race and kept the price low for its PEAR. Lords Town plant amplifies the production. The company has planned to use the facility and manufacture 250,000 PEAR vehicles per year.

Henrik said the firm will manufacture 1 million PEAR vehicles per year at facilities around the world. These factories are located in the US, Europe, India, and China. The vehicle is designed on the SLV1 (Simple Light Volume) platform featuring a steel body and frame.

The firm used an internal manufacturing procedure to make production more effective and reduce costs. The company will take out 35% of the parts to lower the cost and make it simple and rapid to assemble. Fisker has also finalized the design of its PEAR vehicle.

Fisker confirmed that the PEAR is expected to arrive in the market in mid-2025. The PEAR features a rear tailgate that can’t open up or down like typical tailgates. The latest technology trends said it can slide down into the rear bumper and evaporate.

Fisker Ronin: A Sports Convertible Version

Fisker also presented all-electric Ronin in prototype form. It marks a comeback to the high-end luxury sports car market from Henrik Fisker. The vehicle name refers to the movie “Ronin”, famous for its different car chase scenes.

The vehicle is aimed at showcasing Fisker’s vision of a future supercar. It also contributes as the tech carrier for the entire lineup of vehicles. Fisker said it features four butterfly-winged doors, a sloping roofline, and a 3-motor powertrain.

Tri-motors can produce at least 1,000 horsepower and reach 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2 seconds. The Ronin is equipped with a coverable carbon fiber roof. Fisker believes it will have enough space to fit 5 people and their baggage.

The Ronin will feature a new type of battery pack unified into the vehicle’s body with an estimated 600-mile range. It would keep the Ronin’s range ahead of other available EVs on the market. Fisker said the production for Ronin will start in the 2nd half of 2024.

Force E: Luxury Off-Roader Vehicle

On Thursday, the latest tech news said the bigger surprise was the announcement of the Force E. It is the only EV currently on the market and an off-roader version of the Ocean SUV.

Fisker improved the Ocean SUV with frames, added a skid plate, and elegant 33-inch wheels. The firm said the vehicle hit the market in the first Q of 2024 and called the Force E a hardcore off-road version.
