On Tuesday, leading VPN (virtual private network) service provider NordVPN announced a new feature Meshnet. The new feature enables users to instantly connect to other devices rather than routing their traffic over a VPN server. Meshnet allows users to route their traffic over a laptop they left at home. It enables them to use their own IP address and browse the internet.
Product strategist at NordVPN Vykintas Maknickas said Meshnet allows users to create their own NordVPN server. But a typical NordVPN connection diverts their internet traffic over servers. It includes their own or friend’s devices despite their location, which just need a NordVPN subscription.
Keep in mind that a regular NordVPN service paths users’ internet traffic over VPN servers. Meshnet enables them to create their own NordVPN server. It allows users to send or receive data from their friends, colleagues, and family members. They really have no need to host their work projects on a server.
Meshnet as a Virtual LAN without Cables
It is important that meshnet effectively works as a virtual LAN (Local Area Network). It enables users to play multiplayer games with their friends without additional LAN cables. Users now need to update their NordVPN app and ensure connectivity with the NordLynx protocol to utilize the Meshnet feature. Turn it on in the NordVPN app after updating and connect up to 10 personal or 50 external devices.
Moreover, NordVPN announced last week the removal of servers from India. The move came following recent cybersecurity advice from the CERT-In (Computer Emergency Response Team). It is noteworthy that Surfshark and Express VPN earlier removed their servers from India following the advice from the cyber agency on April 28.
