Chinese multinational technology company, Lenovo, has officially announced the IdeaPad Slim 5i range. The new series include 14-inch and 16-inch display models powered with Intel’s 13th-Gen Raptor Lake CPU. However, other specs (except the CPU) are supposedly the same as AMD processor-powered IdeaPad Slim 5i laptops.
The entry-level versions of the laptops will reportedly get ULC CPUs such as i5-1334U, i5-1335U, and i7-1355U. They will supposedly have either an i5-1340P or an i7-1360P processor. However, top-level versions will reportedly get i5-13420H, i5-13450H, i5-13500H, i7-13620H, and i7-13700H processors. Lenovo didn’t include Thunderbolt 4 ports in these models because of their lightweight and compact design.
The 14-Inch Version Weighs Around 1.5 Kg
However, these versions will have a variety of ports similar to the AMD models. They will get two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a combo audio jack. These models will reportedly have a microSD card slot, an HDMI 1.4 video out, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 6E cards. The 16-inch laptops include a 2.5K IPS display with a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 100% sRGB color range.
These models will supposedly get an FHD+ IPS display with a 45% NTSC color spectrum. However, the 14-inch IdeaPad Slim 5i will get a 2.2K or an FHD+ IPS panel, or an FHD+ OLED display. Both 14-inch and 16-inch versions weigh around 1.5 Kg and 2 Kg respectively. These models will supposedly come with multiple battery options such as 47Wh, 56.6Wh, or 75.4Wh.
IdeaPad Slim 5i Notebooks Could Hit Markets in April
Meanwhile, Intel-based IdeaPad Slim 5i notebooks will supposedly go on sale in April 2023, with an expected starting price of $955. Keep in mind that Lenovo has added an OLED display option for its midrange IdeaPad Slim 5 laptops. Both a 14-inch OLED screen and a larger 16-inch screen have a less dominant IPS LCD display. They replace the Slim 5 in 14- and 15.6-inch options with the 8th generation.
Both new versions sustain the document-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio to present these efficient and productive laptops. However, the 14-inch IdeaPad Slim 5 is supposedly a more attractive update from the previous generation. This device has a brighter 400 nits OLED screen compared to 300 on the older version. This model also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space.
The Slim 5 Refers to AMD and 5i for Intel Processors
Meanwhile, the device is configurable with an excellent 2240 x 1400 resolution. But both previous generation’s 14 and 15-inch models had 1080p resolution. The screen of the new 16-inch IdeaPad Slim 5 has the same color space as the new 14-inch. The 16-inch version comes with a brightness increase of 350 nits and a screen resolution of up to 2,560 x 1,600.
Both Slim 5 laptop versions will reportedly have 1080p webcams. However, the North American version of the 16-inch model will have a built-in privacy shutter. These laptops have various ports including 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 1.4b, an SD card slot, and an audio jack. Both new IdeaPads will have Intel and AMD processor options. Keep in mind that the name Slim 5i refers to the Intel processor version with Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
The 16-Inch Version Will Run Windows 11
The US-based customers with AMD can select from Ryzen (7330U), 5 (7530U), and (7730U) processors for the 16-inch version. This model is configurable with 256GB to 1TB M.2 PCIe SSDs and 8GB to 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Meanwhile, this version will come with Windows 11 Home at a starting price of around $649.99. This new model is expected to hit markets in May 2023.
However, the 16-inch IdeaPad Slim 5i model starts at a higher price of $749.99 and is expected to ship in May. Both versions will come with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. They will also get up to 16GB DDR5 RAM, and 256GB to 1TB SSD options. Keep in mind that both Intel and AMD versions have multiple color options including Abyss Blue, Cloud Grey, and Violet.
