Huawei presented one of the first foldable smartphones, the Mate X. It was followed up by the Mate Xs that appeared earlier this year. Most of us are expecting the latest foldable version because a regulatory filing has pointed to some clues. The company will supposedly announce the Huawei Mate X2 and has just mentioned by a certification body in China. The new device will have the codename ‘Huawei TET-AN00 / AN10 smartphone’. The source didn’t provide too much about the upcoming smartphone but suggested an expected official launch very soon. The new announcement could be the Huawei Mate X smartphone and it will supposedly be released in February 2021. It is noteworthy that the regulatory filing said the device has the ability to support 66W fast charging as well as 5G.
So, it seems like we might get a super-premium gadget here because its super-speedy charging rate is much similar to the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. The Huawei Mate X2 foldable will come running the same Kirin 9000 chip powering the Mate 40 Pro as well. However, the size of the (unfolded) display is rumored to be 8.3 inches and it is up from 8 inches offered on the Mate Xs. The source also pointed to a 120Hz refresh rate which suggests Huawei is really going for it in terms of screen quality and specs. It clearly indicates the Chinese tech giant is keen to give the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 some serious competition. Point to be noted that the upcoming Mate X2 might fold inwards rather than outwards so the main display doesn’t end up on the outside after closing the phone.
The Mate X2 smartphone from Huawei offers a much better design with improved hinge quality. A tougher display panel could bear the frequent folding and unfolding. The new device is expected to be announced by the company before the end of this year. New leaks have suggested that it will adopt a design much similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. A leak also shows that it will have 2 screens when folded. The device will be powered by Kirin 990 5G SoC. The chipset of the handset is paired with 8 GB of RAM with a massive 512 GB internal storage to ensure enough space for huge files on the smartphone. The Huawei Mate X2 will supposedly feature a massive 5000 mAh battery and it will support 55W Fast battery charging.
