A new moon or full moon is called a Supermoon. It occurs when the Moon comes to the closet elliptic orbit of the Earth and appears slightly larger than the normal-sized appearance of the lunar disk. The Earth-Moon-Sun system is technically named a ‘perigee-syzygy’ or a full Moon around perigee. The ‘Supermoon’ term is astrological in origin and hasn’t any specific astronomical definition. Now, Supermoon fans must take attention because the last appearance of a full Supermoon in 2020 to take place on Thursday, 7th May 2020. The upcoming event will also mark the peak of ‘Super Flower Moon’.
Most of us have been looking for extra-large full moons since February, known as Supermoons. It is noteworthy that the ‘Super Pink Moon’ of April was considered the biggest of the year. But you will experience that the full moon of May should be just as gorgeous. Thursday morning isn’t your only shot at a good show. The US space agency, NASA said that the moon will appear full for about 3-days around this time, from Tuesday evening through Friday morning.

NASA has indicated that the moniker traces back to the Maine Farmers Almanac in the 1930s. It is important that the next full Supermoon can’t be viewed until late April 2021.
