Acer Spin 513 is the first Chromebook featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Chipset

Acer Spin 513 is the first Chromebook featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c ChipsetThe Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is one of the very first Chromebooks featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The device is now available at $349 with the Snapdragon 7c Compute SC7180. It is a lightweight and mediocre performer with excellent 36Wh battery life, smooth Gorilla Glass touchpad, and weighs 2.65 pounds. The Spin 513 features 4GB onboard dual-channel LPDDR4X SDRAM and 64GB eMMC storage. When we talk about display, it has 13.3-inch IPS FHD (1920 x 1080) TFT LCD with an integrated multi-touch screen. It has 720p HD camera and support 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, 2×2 MIMO. The Spin comes with two stereo speakers, as well as two microphones. The Chromebook delivered decent volume and it was certainly enough to fill a room.

The Spin 513 looks and feels like it belongs in a higher price category. The lid is made of aluminum and the reflective Acer logo adds some flair. The bezels on the sides and top are reasonably small. The chassis has some other new features. You will be surprised that its keyboard is backlit. It also offers a comfortable typing experience with quiet and satisfying keys. You will also get an excellent modern port selection including two USB Type-C ports (supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1, DisplayPort, and DC-in), one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and a 3.5mm combination audio jack. There’s a USB-C on both sides and could provide a more appealing charging convenience. The Flex 3 and the C340 are both small (11.6 inches), low-resolution (1366 x 768), and dim.

But, the Spin 513 has a quite nice 1920 x 1080 screen, which is as good of a resolution as you’ll ever find on any laptop at this price tag. Point to be noted that the Snapdragon 7c processor comes paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, while some models will also support LTE connectivity. The Spin 513 doesn’t come with restrictions unlike with ARM Windows machines, on which Android apps you can download. It is important that Zoom meetings in the Zoom app aren’t still possible on this device. Moreover, editing a batch of photos in Google Photos was also a slow experience. But, the Acer Spin 513 is still a good option at this price tag.
