DJI is now back with another encounter to blow GoPro off from nestle as the class head in action cams. The latest move marked the DJI Osmo Action 3. It was presented less than a year after the release of Action 2. But Action 3 brings things back to fundamentals, instead of last year’s strange magnetic form factor. It is seemingly an excellent normal action camera.
The Design Fundamentals of the Cam
The palm-sized Action 3 features mounting clips on its bottom. Users can use it in tense spaces as it provides significantly exciting angles. They will get both front and rear screens to monitor video and capture the world in 4K with an ultra-wide lens. Moreover, the Osmo features a series of mounting points at its base to use the camera for 16:9 recording.
Action 3 ships with an accessory bundle that includes a 2nd set of mounts for 9:16 vertical video recording. Meanwhile, DJI claims that users can work with wet hands because both screens are more sensitive. The camera also includes the voice commands option. Action 3 features physical buttons for pictures and videos.
The Imaging Specs of Action 3 Are Similar to Action 2
These buttons are used to swap between shooting modes and record button/ shutter release mode. The specs of Osmo Action 3 for imaging are much similar to Action 2. The camera uses a Type 1/1.7 imager with support for 4K 12MP photos at around 120fps. However, the company has dropped the support for magnetic lens modifiers.
Meanwhile, it will not allow users to attach a macro lens as they earlier used with Action 2. The cam features a replaceable protective lens cover and users can remove it for an ND filter or replace it. Users can use the lens in its 155-degree ultra-wide setting. They can also extend their view to eliminate distortion as well as get a closer outlook of their subject.
A Flat D-Cine Look and a Standard Profile
Users will also find a standard profile for color with a flat D-Cine look for creators considering enhancing color. However, there are lower resolutions available for streaming over Wi-Fi all the way down to 480p SD. The company is presenting a number of its own accessories such as an adapter with GoPro mounts in the box. The Osmo has its own accessories including handlebars, surfboards, helmet chin straps, mounts for chest straps, and others.
It is important that the Osmo cam is waterproof to 52.5 feet on its own without a case. But DJI also presented a waterproof case for deeper water camera use. The company also recommended that adding a case is essential for the hot spring’s camera use. Users can pair a new DJI drone with their smartphone for activation before takeoff.

Meanwhile, the company bounds users for speed, altitude, and flying distance of its UAVs. A sensible safeguard to prevent bad actors is essential from irresponsibly using a significantly dangerous remote-control aircraft. The camera boots up and generates a message for connecting it to the DJI Mimmo smartphone app. Users will find a QR code on the screen to speed up the process.
