The app industry has shown continuous growth with a plethora of downloads and consumer expenses. The growth was related to both Google Play and iOS stores. However, global spending through Google Play and iOS was recorded at over $135 billion in 2021. Consumers downloaded apps worth $125 billion in 2020 but now reached 140 billion in 2022.
The big developer conference of Apple is now back with a hybrid event as invitations forwarded to some developers. Most app developers were found interested in the coming updates from Apple’s development platform. Moreover, Apple is ahead with its mobile operating systems, such as the big new iOS 16 release.

Apple is expected to announce iOS 16 next week. The company has released iOS 15.6 beta 2 and the 2nd developer betas for watchOS 8.7, tvOS15.6, and iPadOS 15.6. The new update will fix the bug in the Apple Music app.
Google’s General Availability of App Actions
Google also announced that Android users are now able to apply their Play Points to in-app buying on Google Play. The tech giant released the GA (General Availability) of App Actions using shortcuts.xml. Developers can now add a layer of voice communication to their app using the Shortcuts API. They can also use the Android tools, platform, and desired features.
The latest Android update from Google includes new Gboard stickers, a new Play Points feature, and around 1600 Emoji Kitchen combos. Moreover, the company is also bringing custom text stickers to entire Android devices amid the launch of Pixel smartphones. Many app developers and content providers in South Korea have increased their paid subscription & service fees on Google Play.
Improvements in the E-commerce Sector
Amazon has offered an invite-only ordering option for its high-demand and low-supply items. The company launched the system in the United States with the preorders for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. However, Kohl’s has now joined Apple’s Business Chat. It enables customers to contact live chat customer service agents using the Messages app of Apple.
Moreover, Instagram also launched AMBER Alerts on its app to support finding missing children. The alert will appear if users are in a specific search area. It includes information such as the missing child, description, an image, location, and other essential details. Meanwhile, Twitter is also focusing on user growth and personalization.
Meta announced a number of updates and new features for its Reels through Instagram and Facebook. The company also released creative tools such as bringing Story stickers of Instagram to Reels.
