Listen to this article

tiny e-paper companion of KyoceraMost people have desired knowledge as Instagram can look like on an e-paper screen and happening in Japan. The Kyocera Card Keitai KY-01L can meet their desired option. It is a companion device that’s supposed to be a sidekick to a beefier mobile phone. The KY-01L is extremely tiny and not too much larger in size as compared to a credit card. It’s height 9 centimeters, 5 centimeters width, thickness 5 millimeters, and weight in at a minuscule 47 grams. The new invention has a standby time of more than 100 hours and a continuous talk time of at least 110 minutes.

The announcement from Kyocera comes the same week of Palm’s re-entrance into the U.S mobile space with its own companion device. It is noteworthy that these kinds of smaller phone accessories aren’t entirely uncommon in Japan. The device itself can do various basic phone tasks, such as make calls, send messages, and has VoLTE and WiFi to browse the web. It is a perfect option to those who really need to try that on an e-paper display. It doesn’t have a camera, but it does have Bluetooth, and water resistant at an IPX 2 rating. You can protect it from a few drops of water, but not a drop in the toilet. The company said that KY-01L will be launched in Japan next month at an estimated price of 32,000 yen ($280).
