Reuters has reported that Tesla has supposedly started manufacturing its solar roof tiles at its Buffalo, New York, factory. The company has also started the process of surveying the homes of people who managed a deposit on the tiles for installation purposes, last year. Tesla also confirmed this news information and said that pre-orders were started in May for the solar roof tiles. Customers paid 1,000 U.S dollars as a deposit on the product. The installation was planned to start in the summer of 2017. There were some hurdles, so the process was delayed. But, now it will be resumed and Reuters reported that the roofs are expected to be installed during coming months.
Tesla indicated that the solar roof tiles will be cheaper and it will cost less than a typical roof, estimated at around 21.85 U.S dollars/ square feet rather than 24.50 U.S dollars. The tiles might be a perfect selection if you are planning to replace your roof in the next couple of years, or if you are looking for solar panels. The solar tiles are similar to regular shingles, but every installed shingle shouldn’t be the solar because it will allow you to distinguish between the two. You will also be able to customize your plan that how many percents of your roof tiles will be solar in their online tool; the recommended max is 70 percent. So, if you need to install more solar panels, it will be more expensive to build your solar roof. The company is currently collecting preorders with a deposit of 1,000 U.S dollars.
