Some reports have indicated that the Surface Pro 8 will likely make an appearance on 1st January 2021. A new eBay listing suggests the Pro 8 will have some excellent features and better specs without a design change. The listing for the Surface Pro 8 shows a tablet that looks almost similar to the Surface Pro 7. However, intriguing patents that have been previously leaked do give us hope that Surface Pro 8 might have some design updates. Although, Microsoft has expanded product lines to cover just about every need from the casual user to creative professionals. The Surface Pro series has been a mainstay of their Surface product lines since 2013. But, there have been no announcements or rumors regarding the release date for the Microsoft Surface Pro 8. Most tech experts believe it could arrive on New Year Eve.
But, the major question regarding the Surface Pro 8 release date has to do with Microsoft’s other products that the computer world is expecting, namely the Surface Duo and the Surface Neo. It is also possible that Microsoft does what it did last year when they released the Pro 7 in October of 2019 and the Pro X the following month. Point to be noted that the entry-level price for a newly-released Surface Pro has generally started between $799 and $999 with a maxed-out machine usually peaking at $2299. New Surface Pro devices have typically taken incremental steps into the future every time there’s been a release. For instance, the Pro 7 improved on the Pro 6 by replacing the 8th gen Intel chips with the just-released 10th generation chips, upgrading the Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi 6, and including a USB-C port.
It is noteworthy that RAM, Storage, and display are among other specifications were not changed. But, we might see a newer chip in the Pro 8. That’s all dependent on Intel’s 11th-generation chips, codenamed “Tiger Lake”. The current speculation is late 2020 at the earliest for those chips. It is important that the eBay listing shows a Surface Pro 8 with an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage inside. A leak also confirmed that 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage are top spec, along with a new minimum of 8GB of RAM with the Intel Core i3 model. We hope that Microsoft will take another step further and include a Thunderbolt 3 port in lieu of USB-C. We have an idea of Microsoft making design improvements in the 2 patents that have been filed for their type covers.
