A video posted by Elon Musk the first nearly completed tunnel of Boring Company under Los Angeles. It heads towards LAX and has an extra entrance at the SpaceX Hawthorne HQ. The chief of multi-company said that the tunnel is almost completed, but regulatory approvals are pending. It will allow the Boring team to offer free rides to the public as soon as a few months from now. He said that people will ultimately have to pay to ride electric pods of Boring, but it will cost commuters even less than a bus ticket. The company is much hopeful that shuttles and tunnels of the company could easily become the perfect and efficient transportation option.
Elon Musk has also refreshed the previous statement of the company that the tunnels will always prioritize shuttles carrying pedestrians and cyclists. Cars will still be able to use them, but they come second to mass transit needs. Musk also said on Twitter in addition to sharing a video of the tunnel that the Boring Company has already started digging a tunnel between Washington D.C and New York. The company is hoping to start digging a route between LA and San Francisco in 2019. It will apparently be able to accommodate true hyper-loop with pressurized pods in near vacuum tunnels and it will be faster than a jetliner.
