Responsive Sites Take Much Time to Load on Mobiles and Offer Suboptimal Weighted

Pages

Responsive sites on mobile devicesAccording to a latest survey arranged for the Responsive Web Design by a mobile development solutions provider ‘Trilibis’, indicated that performance of most of the responsive design websites is not accepted by the mobile devices. According to this survey, four out of five websites provided suboptimal weighted pages and much load time recorded on mobile devices.

It concluded on this Responsive Web Design survey that why image optimization is much critical experience for a mobile friendly user. This survey examined more than 155 responsive websites by Trilibis, almost 21 percent have been loaded in less than four seconds on smart-phones. Remaining websites needed a load and connectivity time between ten to 48 seconds.

The Culprit

The websites of bugaboo provided a high-speed access virtually to everyone for image resizing which is now known as Culprit. Most of the images occupy the weight of more than half of the page. According to this survey, if the total weight of the page was more than one megabyte and if 61 percent assigned for home page of at least one megabyte, then the website load time was insupportable for mobile users.

The survey arranged company Trilibis said that there is solution. The targeted solution is Snow, it is for its server based processing, and it provides image optimization for the targeted mobile device. An average density of a page on all sampled sites was 1.8 megabytes, but Snow decreased its weight to 470 kilobytes for tablets, 420 kilobytes for smart-phones and almost 789 kilobytes for desktop systems. The page load time also decreased by 28 percent to 54 percent.

According to the vice president of Trilibis professional services Suntae Kim, the Snow performs two stepsfor image optimization process. First of all there is a built-in optimization on a web page for all images, it performs creating and storing process using an optimized version for desktop, tablet and smart-phone browsers. After that when a web page send a request generated by a device, then Snow detect the device which generated request and serve more optimization for that specific device.

RWD provides one code based one URL and one set of content, then it would be able to complete the features and presentation for a targeted or requested device by using cascading style sheets and fluid grids. Trilibis also stated that cascading style sheet detects the client side screen width, but on the other hand Snow detects the physical characteristics before sending content. Suntae Kim also added that if the image produces any type of loading problem issue then CSS reformats and rearrange the image layout and scales on the device side.

Adaptive Design

An adaptive design approach creates different types of sites for different devices like desktop or laptop, for tablets and for smart-phones, as we compare to the responsive design.

There are some notable downsides for responsive designed sites. Any change to one version will ripple through all of them, it’s a time consuming process, and older desktop browsers do not always support responsive design.

There are some weak points for responsive designed sites, such as change in one version would rush through all of them. But adaptive design has an important advantage of SEO. You should have only one URL of different versions, it means to set the priority level because in the beginning your mobile device connects to a desktop or laptop based site and then it would be redirected to the mobile site for better performance. There could be different URLs for the same content.
